Eligibility and Registration Guidelines:
- 1. The M.S RAMAIAH MEMORIAL Quiz is open to individuals or teams with an interest in Chemical engineering and Biotech.
- 2. Participants may be required to provide valid identification proof, if requested, to verify their eligibility.
- 3. Organizers and immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
- 4. Participants or teams must register for the quiz using the designated registration process.
- 5. Registration may require personal information such as name, email, team name and contact details.
- 6. Incomplete or inaccurate registrations may be disqualified.
- 7. Single, double and triple registrations will be clubbed to form a team of 4.
- 8. Teams between students of both the departments are encouraged.
Format:
- The quiz will be conducted in a multiple-choice, picture/logo based, audio and visual based questions depending on the round.
- Questions will focus on general-science ,chemistry ,math ,physics, environment and technical-chemical engineering and biotech based generic concepts and related topics.
- The quiz may consist of multiple rounds, and rules for each round will be explained before the round begins
Conduct:
- Participants must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
- Plagiarism, cheating, or unethical behaviour is strictly prohibited.
- The use of electronic devices or external references is not allowed during the quiz.
Timing and Scoring:
- Participants must adhere to the specified time limits for each question and round.
- Latecomers may be allowed to join the quiz but will not receive extra time to compensate for their lateness.
- First person to respond to a question asked will be given the preference.
- Scoring will be based on correct answers, quality of responses, and points will be awarded accordingly.
- In the case of a tie, tie-breaker questions or methods will be employed to determine the winner.
- The quizmaster's decision on scoring and tie-breakers is final.
Prizes:
- Prizes may be awarded to the top participants or teams based on their final scores.
- The value and type of prizes will be announced before the quiz begins.
- Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.
Disqualification and Amendments:
- Participants or teams who violate any of the rules, engage in disruptive behaviour, or attempt to cheat will be disqualified.
- The quizmaster or organizers reserve the right to disqualify participants at their discretion.
- The organizers may make changes to the rules and format of the quiz at their discretion.
- Any changes will be communicated to participants in a timely and transparent manner.
- The quizmaster and organizers have the final authority on all matters related to the quiz.
- Their decisions are binding and not subject to appeal.
Judging criterion:
- Round 1: Round 1 will consist of 15 multiple choice questions (MCQs); for which each team will be given 10 minutes to answer. After evaluation is complete the top 6 teams will be selected to contest in the further rounds. Round 1 will be conducted on the same day of the quiz and the results will be announced within 20 -30 minutes of completion of the test. Round 1 will be written, each team of 4 will be provided with ONLY ONE sheet of questions, which is supposed to be answered in the same provided paper and RETURNED after the completion of the time limit. Contestants must refrain from using electronic gadgets in order to look for answers, if caught by the invigilators they will not be allowed to continue further. ANY KIND OF FOUL PLAY IS NOT TOLERATED.
- Round 2: Round 2 will consist of 2 SUB-ROUNDS. Each sub-round will contain same type of questions and of equal difficulty. Each sub-round will contain 5-Questions each for which the contestants will be given 60 seconds after the announcement of the question to answer. The evaluation of the questions will be done on spot after the completion and the scoring of each team will be announced on spot, after which the answers will be revealed in order to maintain transparency in the judgment. After each sub-round the team with the lowest score will be eliminated. Round 2 will take place in front of an audience and the contestants will be housed on or near the stage and the questions will be announced on the screen via a projector. Contestants aren’t allowed to use their phones or any electronic gadgets, usage of which will lead to DISQUALIFICATION. Teams aren’t allowed to interact or converse with one another and exchange remarks. Any type of prompting is strictly discouraged. Contestants are only allowed to interact WITH their teammates. Round 2 will contain audio/visual and logo based questions. Any doubts regarding the questions must be clarified after the announcement of the question ONLY. Teams will be given an extra 1 minute after the last question to compile and submit the answer script. In the case of 2 or more teams having the same score a tie breaker question will be provided before continuing to the next sub-round. Each question is of 1 point each. And the scoring of this round will not be carried forward to the final round. In each sub round 1 team with the lowest scoring will be eliminated. And only 4 teams at the end of Round 2 will be contesting in Round 3
- Round 3: Round 3 will be a RAPID FIRE QUESTION round. In which the 4 qualifying teams will be provided with 5 questions each. Each question will contain 10 points each. Each team will be asked 5 questions at once, if answer to one of the question is not known it can be passed. Every wrong answer will result in negative 5 points of the team who the question is directed towards. If the question is passed the team will not loose any points but the 10 points of the unanswered question. In the case of a passed question rest of the teams will be provided 1 min to answer the question in writing which will be evaluated on spot. And the teams with the right answer to the passed question will get 5 points each. The scores of each team will be announced after the completion of the set of rapid fire question of that particular team. There will be tie-breakers in case of 2 teams having the same points. And the winners will be announced after the complete completion of the round. Contestants aren’t allowed to use their phones or any electronic gadgets, usage of which will lead to DISQUALIFICATION. Teams aren’t allowed to interact or converse with one another and exchange remarks. Any type of prompting is strictly discouraged. ANY KIND OF FOUL PLAY IS NOT TOLERATED.
