Overview

  1. Code the AI Player is a competitive coding event centered around the classic game of Connect Four. In this tournament-style competition, participants, organized in teams of two, will showcase their programming skills by developing algorithms for their AI bots to play Connect Four.
This event provides an excellent opportunity for participants to demonstrate their programming skills, algorithmic thinking, and strategic planning. It's also a great learning experience and a chance to engage with fellow coders in a competitive yet fun environment.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Team Formation: Participants will form teams of two members each. Each team will work together to create a Connect Four AI bot player.
  2. Game Rules: The game of Connect Four will be played on a standard 7x6 grid, where two players take turns dropping colored discs into the columns. The objective is to connect four of their own discs either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Teams will be provided with the rules and specifications of the game.
  3. AI Development: Each team is responsible for writing the logic for their AI bot. The bot should be able to take the current state of the game and make the best move for the next turn. The AI should aim to win the game or block the opponent from winning. The standard code will be provided for handling the input and performing the moves of the bot. Participants will only have to code the logic.
  4. Tournament Style: After a specified development period, all the created AI bots will be pitted against each other in a 1v1 tournament fashion. This means that each bot will play against every other bot in a round-robin style competition.
  5. Leaderboard: A leaderboard will be generated to track the performance of each AI bot in the tournament. Points will be awarded based on wins and ties. The bot with the highest points will be declared the winner.
